Here at LesserEvil, we are all about the snacks. We love to eat them. Love to share them. Love to think up wild new snacks. Simply put, we just love snacks.
When we started the company in 2004, we were all about the snacks then too. Unfortunately, we'd head to the store to pick some up and have a huge predicament: pick up some healthy, yet bland snacks – or – delicious, mouth-watering but REALLY unhealthy snacks. Where were the great taste and better nutritionals? Where was the "LesserEvil?"
This was the start, or really, the inspiration for our company. So that spring we started popping corn and cooking up a homemade kettle corn recipe without all the junk – so no trans-fats, preservatives, high fructose corn syrup, high fats or out-of-control calories.
2005 was a big year for us as our first official year of actually selling our snacks. We went into the year with a ton of excitement. And while there were plenty of hurdles, novice mistakes and closed doors, we actually started to get the attention of the snacking public. Along with our original two flavors (ClassicKettle and Black&White), we introduced some other dandies like MaplePecan and PeanutButter & Choco. We also established our "Emergency Snacking Team" in '05, sending them out on the street with the mission of preventing Snackcidents. While starting the year as a 3-person company, we finished as a company of seven.
Almost as soon as people started trying our Kettle Corns the request started coming in for "less evil" snacks for more occasions. Everyday we'd get at least one email (new school), phone call (old school) or letter (dark ages) asking for a LesserEvil replacement to someone's loved snack. So after extensive research (mostly snacking), we launched our second line – All Natural Krinkle Sticks. The idea was simple: make a delicious alternative to the fried potato chip. It was the summer of '06 when we first introduced these crinkle-shaped potato snacks and the great crunch, delicious flavors and MUCH better nutritional panel has made them an instant success.
Today, we're just as busy creating new package sizes, new flavors and, yes, we've got some brand new snack ideas in the works too. In fact, the newest LesserEvil, Veggie Krinkle Sticks, was just launched!
